BC Brain Wellness Program

October 17th, 2022

Happy Birthday BC Brain Wellness Program!

BC Brain Wellness Program Turns Three Years Old

To mark our third anniversary, we explored the question “What does the BC Brain Wellness Program mean to you?”. The answers from our participants, instructors and staff have been inspiring and have guided us as we worked on our three goals; expansion, evaluation, and sustainability.

Expansion

Since April 2020, we have grown to offering 28 different programs, with a user base of approximately 2,000 individuals, delivering more than 2,500 hours of free programming to people in both urban and rural areas of British Columbia. Other expansion highlights include the addition of new classes, a partnership with UBC’s Department of Physical Therapy and preparation for three research projects scheduled to launch in 2023.

Evaluation

As the world began to open again, it has been essential to evaluate our program in relation to the changes happening in our community. Feedback from the Participant Advisory Committee, focus groups, assessments, and surveys, reinforced that our program continues to be highly relevant and in demand and that it truly brings people together as a community.

Sustainability

Going forward, it is crucial to ensure that we can continue to provide and grow the program which is currently entirely funded by our amazing donors. We cannot do this without your support, and we are so grateful.

Give today and support the BC Brain Wellness Program.

Participant Registration Satisfaction Survey

Thank you for taking the time to complete our Participant Registration Satisfaction Survey. This past fall we changed our website and registration platform to suit the needs of our growing program. Originally the BC Brain Wellness Program started as a 75 person program, and now has grown to over 500 active participants. We would like to conduct this short survey to assess how our participants are interacting with our new platforms and how we can improve for future semesters.

This survey will take approximately 5-15 minutes to complete and all information provided will remain anonymous. If you're interested in participating in the survey, please complete it by October 24th, 2022.

Neurologic Music Therapy

2-4pm Sunday, November 6th, 2022 in the Lower Atrium of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health

Very few people would argue the universal power that music has on humans, but what is really going on in the brain when it engages in a task such as listening to, moving with, or playing music? This gathering with Dr. Corene Hurt-Thaut around the piano at DMCBH will give you insights into the evidence-based practice of Neurologic Music Therapy and a glimpse at how elements of music can be used to influence non-musical brain and behavior functions. No registration is required!
